Waxing
Waxing is a provisional method of hair removal, which removes the
hair at the root. New hairs do not grow back in the waxed area for
about three to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body could be
waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back,
stomach and feet.
Waxing is talented by spreading a wax combination thinly over the
skin. A cloth or paper band is pushed on the top and then spited
off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth.
This takes away the wax along with the hair and dead skin cells
leaving the skin smooth.
New hair growth in waxed areas is quite soft and fine, not sharp
and coarse like shaved hair. After repeated waxing, hair regrowth
is less ordinary and eventually some hair never regrows.
Types Of Waxing
Various types of waxing now exist. Some must be carrying out by a licensed
cosmetologist or esthetician. The different types of waxing that
could be performed are:
v Eyebrow
Waxing
v Full face
Waxing
v Bikini,
Male Genital, & Brazilian Waxing
v Leg Waxing
v Arm/Underarm
Waxing
v Back Waxing
v Feet waxing
Most parts of the body could be waxed, but other parts not listed above
are not given particular consideration. Areas individuals need never
wax include inside the ears and nose and eyelashes. Areas of the
body that must only be waxed by a licensed professional comprise
the female genitals, male genitals and the nipples.
Benefits And Drawbacks
Benefits Of Waxing Versus Other Forms Of Hair
Removal :
v Long
Lasting - Hair in areas waxed would not grow back from three to
eight weeks. When hair does grow back, it is soft and not very coarse
like shaved hair.
v When the
hair is shaved or removed by depilatory cream, the hair is removed
from the surface. Within a few days, the hair could be seen at the
surface and the stubble could be felt.
Drawbacks Of Waxing :
v Pain
- The removal of the strip is sore and sharp, though it is short-lasting.
v Expense
- Waxing is typically performed by a licensed cosmetologist and
could be expensive. Home waxing supplies are accessible but are
difficult to use on self for some areas of the body.
v Hair elimination
is not permanent.
v As the
waxed strip is removed against the way of hair growth, hair follicles
may be disturbed so that hairs start to grow in unlike directions.
This might make hair growth more clear and make other methods of
hair removal (such as electrolysis) more difficult.
Cautions
Some physicians do not advise waxing for persons suffering from diabetes
or one who have varicose veins or poor circulation, as they are
more susceptible to infection.
Users of Retin-A, Renova, Differin or Isotretinoin are suggested not
to have waxing performed as these medications tend to weaken the
skin and tearing of the skin might occur when the wax is removed.
Waxing must not be done on areas of skin affected by warts, pimples,
moles or rashes or on skin that is already irritated, chapped or
suffering from sunburn. Never apply wax to peeling, broken skin
or varicose veins.
